Extra! News Flash - BOSCO Phase I Sucessfully Deployed - Details available on our News and Media Page!

BOSCO-Uganda is helping put an end to isolation caused by war.  BOSCO-Uganda is providing an innovative Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solution to foster social and economical development and peace building in rural communities of northern Uganda.  BOSCO is using a collaborative, web-based ICT training approach encouraging communication and collaboration for people living in isolated or war affected areas.

N Uganda needs a voice » Hear first hand accounts from N. Uganda

We have now -- along with a few partners -- provided internet access and Voice Over IP Telephone access in many of the formerly named Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Gulu, Northern Uganda. These camps were developed with the intent to provide safety in numbers, but the conditions in these camps are inhumane, with no provion for food, water, or communication without international aid. BOSCO Wi-Fi array at Pabbo IDP camp serves 80,000 people with internet access, VoIP international phone service, and educational and economic opportunity!Sadly, 95% of the people in this area live in absolute poverty and are unable to tap the vast natural resources available in N. Uganda.

We have a plan » ICT Update Magazine Article

BOSCO-Uganda is building a collaborative network of users in rural locations (former IDP camps) and trading centers using low-power 12V DC PCs connected via low power, POE, solar battery powered Wi-Fi routers bringing long-range WiFi Internet, and local + international VoIP telephony to these sites.  This technology is linking people to the outside world and is allowing them to articulate their own needs and find solutions to local community development problems.
